Completed phase 1 extension
We are in the process of making much needed improvements to our building to help us better serve our community.
The church building requires upgrading in order to comply with modern accessibility standards, making entry into and through the building, straightforward for all. As well as this adhering to health & safety standards is essential to meet the growing needs of the local community.
The aim of this work is to upgrade our building and facilities so we can fulfil our vision to deliver Christian mission in an intentional and purposeful way, and continue to make a positive impact on our community.
We initially commissioned Fouin and Bell Architects to draw up plans which would help us make better use of the space we have. After the completion of Phase One, Fouin and Bell ceased to exist, so we are now working with The Charlotte Square Property Group.
The church agreed to divide this work into several broad phases:
To build an upstairs extension above the current kitchen/toilet block.
To create an office and two multi-purpose rooms in the new space.
To install a stairway in the small meeting room to access the extension.
Having completed phase one, we are now in the planning and funding stages for the second phase of the church redevelopment.
The plan for phase 2 is to
To install a new kitchen and lift in the current lounge. The lift will provide accessibility to the accommodation in the phase 1 development.
To create a multi-purpose room above the lounge, including the installation of a structural floor.
To reprofile the access path on the side of the building to improve access for wheelchairs, buggies etc.

To construct a new toilet block and storage area in the current kitchen and toilet space, including disabled and baby change facilities.

Adjust floor levels on the ground floor. This will require raising the floor level in the sanctuary (the main church hall used for our Sunday services). This will provide level access across the whole floor from from the front door through to the Lister Hall.
